About Jill Blakey

Jill considers herself ‘a life-long Maths geek’ - with a Mathematics degree from St Andrews University and many years as a secondary school Maths Teacher, Jill has always enjoyed the objectivity of numbers and algebra. She loves the satisfaction of solving a problem and getting the answer "right". Somewhat counterintuitively, this has brought Jill to Abstract Art. Abstract art can't be wrong! There are no rules. This was a revelation for Jill.

Jill is an intuitive artist. She paints with no plan, allowing her intuition to take over. Jill's paintings are often a real insight into her subconscious, with the painting inspiration being obvious only afterwards. A lot of Jill's work has an urban undertone which is likely to be inspired by the 10 years Jill lived in South London before moving with her young family to Buckinghamshire.

Jill creates colourful and dynamic statement art pieces using mostly acrylic, spray paint and inks on canvas and paper.

Jill has sold work locally, internationally and nationally – most recently returning from a successful ‘Art Fair East’ in Norwich.
